Records & Evidence

The Records Division is the central repository for all police generated reports. The Property and Evidence Division is the designated storage facility for all seized, found and safe-keeping items turned in by an officer.

The Records counter is located in the police lobby, to your left upon entering the double glass doors. The Property and Evidence counter is located in the police lobby, directly straight ahead upon entering the double glass doors.

Requesting Records

Citizens can review the daily log, request offense reports, accident reports, video recordings, photographs, criminal background checks, and alarm registrations at the records counter.

Records personnel can facilitate your right to inspect public records Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on major holidays and weekends) or by calling (505) 599-1053.

Public Police Reports & Background Checks

Complete the Request to Inspect Public Records Form. The fee for offense reports is $.50 per page. There is no charge if you are named in the report. Background checks, which only include arrests made by Farmington Police, are $5 each.

Accident Reports Request by a Third Party

Copies of accident reports can be obtained online by registering for an account, paying a processing fee.

Video Recordings from Lapel and In-Car Cameras

You must complete a Request to Inspect Public Records Form and provide as much information as possible regarding the event that was recorded. A search for the film footage will be conducted and copied to a DVD disc. There is a $20 fee per DVD. Please allow 14 business days from the date of the request to process.


Complete the Request to Inspect Public Records Form, be sure to include the case number so your photos can be located. Digital photos are copied onto a CD at the rate of $15 each.

Fingerprint Service

This service is for inked cards only. It is offered Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Urgent Care Substation, located at 4820 E. Main. You must provide your fingerprint cards, $5 for the first two, $5 for each card thereafter and have a valid state issued I.D.

Alarm Registration

You must complete an  Alarm Registration Form. This is required if you contract with an alarm company for locations within the Farmington city limits.

Property & Evidence  

To obtain a copy of property or evidence, and you are NOT an attorney or representing yourself, complete the Request to Inspect Public Records Form. Your request needs to indicate with particularity what you are wanting copied in addition to a case number.

Claim letters/vouchers for property that has been authorized for release are mailed to owners. Call to schedule the pickup of items in voucher, or for any other inquiries regarding property, by contacting the Evidence Unit at (505) 599-1070, Tuesday through Friday,

Evidence Discovery

Discovery is the process by which both the prosecution and the defense receive evidence for a case. The discovery technician processes the written request from parties which may include the District Attorney, Public Defender, Private Attorneys, and Citizens representing themselves. If you are requesting discovery complete the Evidence Discovery Form. All items must be paid in full prior to the delivery or pick-up if the requester is subject to fees. Please allow a minimum of 20 days for processing.
